Yannis Zoiopoulos spent November and December of 2006 as a CRGP visiting scholar from University College London (UCL) where he is completing his PhD. His interests have focused on strategic project management, project-oriented companies as social systems, the evolution of such companies, and the evolution of social systems themselves.
The title of his doctoral research is "Organizational mechanisms for obtaining, developing and effectively mobilizing organizational competencies in project-oriented companies."
Yannis brings knowledge and experience to his work from professional and family contacts in the Balkans, the Middle East and North Africa. He has worked in Romania and Dubai, as well as in his native Greece. His goal is to move to Dubai to build construction-related business when he completes his PhD.
The goal of his relationship to CRGP is to gain opportunities to collaborate with international academics and practitioners who are interested in the evolution of projects as social systems and how carrying out a project affects the evolution of the social system that contains it. He would also like to examine the issues of project management. "In turn," Yannis says, "I hope to promote CRGP in the regions where I have the strongest links with local networks in order to share the deep resource pool that CRGP has to offer."
On the physical side, Yannis enjoys practicing martial arts and playing tennis. For the past four years he has been busy organizing social functions and music concerts. He enjoys a good movie and reading a good book.
