The Governance of Project Management

For those interested in the governance of project management, a team that appears to be led by David Shannon at Oxford has compiled two valuable resources:

The first resource is a very readable report that seeks to provide answers to two research questions:
  • How does a board of directors assure the effectiveness and efficiency of their project management, project sponsorship and portfolio direction?
  • How do they ensure proper coherent disclosure and reporting of these systems and of their performance?
The second resource is a web forum intended to stimulate and sustain discussion on issues germange to the governance of project management.

For those who are looking for information on "project governance" - i.e. the governance of the federated enterprise of financiers, lenders, developers, contractors, and NGOs involved in a major project - this source is helpful, but not directly applicable.
