Yet-to-be-launched R649m BEE infrastructure fund already mulling a scale-up

A newly announced R649-million black economic-empowered (BEE) private-equity fund, which will target infrastructure investments in South Africa and the region, is already considering a second fund, given growing interest in the sector among asset managers.

The fund, which will be launched officially in late January, has been established by empowered financial services group Kagiso Trust Investments (KTI) and African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), and is referred to as the Kagiso Infrastructure Empowerment Fund (KIEF).
