World Bank study says Uruguay mills meet standards

WASHINGTON, Oct 12 (Reuters) - A World Bank agency said on Thursday two pulp mills being built in Uruguay meet the lender's environmental standards, a key step in funding the largest industrial project in the country's history.

The International Finance Corp. said the independent study will now be reviewed by its staff and that of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency who will decide "shortly" whether or not to recommend approval of financing and guarantees for the $1.7 billion project.
