UK: Lagan JV Wins 2 Awards for Limerick PPP

An innovative finance package secured to deliver the €400 million Limerick Tunnel PPP scheme by the DirectRoute consortium - comprising Lagan Holdings, John Sisk & Son, Strabag and Roadbridge - has been awarded two high profile accolades inside a week.

In the first award, the scheme was named as 'European PPP Deal of the Year in 2006' by Project Finance magazine – an international authority in the project finance sector - which praised the deal for its conduit financing structure, the first of its kind in the global PPP market and the first monoline-wrapped PPP in Ireland. Lead arranged by HBoS, the deal combines the flexibility of a loan with the tenor of a bond, features no negative bond carry and provides flexible long term funding and investment returns.
