Uganda: World Bank to Fund Kasese Power

THE World Bank is to give sh5.8b to facilitate the supply of electricity to Kasese district. The power is to be supplied by Kilembe Investment, a private firm at a cost of sh6.8b, Mfite Basaza, the company's chairman announced during a science fair organised by Kisinga Vocational Secondary School.

"I am here to inform you that where we have reached now, we are about to bring you electricity," he announced amid applause.

Basaza disclosed that the company was raising the balance of sh1b from the sell of shares.

Kilembe Investments was set up mainly by former Kilembe Mines workers.
