Source: Bloomberg.com By Pooja Thakur Jan. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Ved Prakash Chaturvedi, manager of the second-best performing Indian fund last year, beat his peers by buying more cement stocks as the nation boosts spending on roads and bridges. Chaturvedi says he's confident the strategy will deliver in 2007. His Tata Infrastructure Fund returned 60.3 percent last year, beating all but one of 92 Indian-focused funds with more than $200 million in assets, as ranked by Bloomberg. "We were the first to catch the mega-trend emerging in infrastructure," Chaturvedi, 41, said in an interview at Tata Asset Management Ltd.'s Mumbai office. "Companies were telling us they had order books full for five years; that struck a chord with us and we realized the opportunity." Infrastructure will be a "key theme" this year, he said.Posted by pichu at January 24, 2007 11:30 AM |
