South Africa: New fund offers BEE-equity option for infrastructure projects

A new black-economic empowered (BEE) private-equity fund, targeting infrastructure investments in South Africa and the region, has been set up by empowered financial services group Kagiso Trust Investments (KTI) and African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM).

The fund, known as the Kagiso Infrastructure Empowerment Fund (KIEF), is a 15-year closed-end fund and has secured capital commitments of R649-million from Kagiso Trust Investments, Remgro, Old Mutual, Metropolitan Life, Capital Alliance, and Liberty Life.
