Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is to make a "significant" statement on the Government's infrastructure plans later today.

The Government has already flagged increased spending on infrastructure into next year in a bid to counteract the impact of the global economic crisis.

In May the Government allocated $40 billion to three infrastructure funds and in November the Government gave $300 million to councils to spend on local projects.
