Romania: Bucharest's fast-growing skyline

If you want a clear view of Romania's past, present and future, just head to the roof of a smart waterside office block under construction near Bucharest Airport and glance back at the capital's skyline.

Stretching across the horizon are unremitting grey communist apartments - the most obvious legacy of the grim regime of dictator Nicolae Ceausescu.
