Qatar invites GAIL, RIL for $1.3bn project

NEW DELHI: Qatar has invited state-run gas utility GAIL and Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries to come jointly for talks on setting up a $1.3 billion petrochemical plant in the gas-rich nation. The two firms had in 2007 signed an MoU to work for putting up such a project overseas.

"I have been told about the interest of GAIL and Reliance in setting up a petrochemical plant in Qatar. They should come (to Doha) to discuss the project details with Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO)," Qatari oil minister Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah said on the sidelines of an oil conference on Thursday.
