Public uses, Private profits

How about the Trumpen Zee Bridge? Or the Wang Island Rail Road?

It may sound outlandish, but New York might not be too far away from the day when the private industry icons own state bridges, toll roads and mass transportation assets. The public might rather sell the naming rights to a park than pay more taxes to make sure the trails and concession stands are ship shape.

A good example is the Tappan Zee Bridge, which exceeded its designed lifespan when it celebrated its 50th birthday...
