By Bernie Cahiles - Magkilat The Chinese business community is keenly interested in the country's build-operate-transfer (BOT) projects but are closely monitoring policy refinements in the BOT Law before pouring money into different ventures. Francis Chua, president of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCI), however, told reporters that in the face of controversies hounding high-level BOT projects, there is an urgent need to refine the BOT law to ensure that both investors and consumers are adequately protected. Chua also strongly pushed for a private sector participation in the evaluation of BOT projects to make sure that the consumer sector is consulted in the process. "Local Chinese businessmen are very interested in the country's BOT projects. They want to invest and they are eyeing not just railways," said Chua. Posted by pichu at July 10, 2006 8:55 AM |
