Land Transport New Zealand has announced a record NZ$ 2.4 billion (US$ 1.8 billion) of spending for land transport infrastructure and services in this year's National Land Transport Programme (NLTP), a +4% increase from last year.

The 2007/08 NLTP sets out a programme of activities that integrates different forms of transport.

Quoted by local media groups, LTNZ acting chairman Paul Fitzharris said a record level of funding was being allocated for an ambitious range of projects designed to improve the New Zealand's roads and passenger transport services.
