NT gets $24bn Japanese LNG project

INPEX Holdings said today it would build a liquefied natural gas processing plant near Darwin in the Northern Territory.

The investment for the project was expected to exceed $US20 billion ($24 billion), Inpex said in a statement.

The Japanese company also said the plant would produce 8 million tonnes a year of LNG and 1.6 million tonnes a year of liquefied petroleum gas, with production to start by early 2015.
