Source: Nigeria First (Abuja) November 1, 2006 Abuja - The Federal Government and the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) on October 30 in Abuja signed an $8.3billion contract for the construction of a standard gauge railway line covering 1,315km from Lagos to Kano. Government explained that the contract covered only the first phase of a 20-year strategic plan for the modernisation of the transport sector in which a total of 8,000km of standard rail line would be constructed.
