The agreement to build the Upper Thanlwin hydropower project was signed Thursday between Myanmar's junta and China's Farsighted Investment Group Co. Ltd. and Gold Water Resources Co. Ltd., the New Light of Myanmar reported. The 2,400-megawatt plant in northern Shan State, about 700 kilometers (430 miles) north of the country's largest commercial center Yangon, is one of several dam projects planned on the Thanlwin river.Posted by pichu at April 7, 2007 9:03 AM |
