Mozambique - Remote Moma site poses unusual project challenges

Mozambique (Engineering News) - Good progress is being made on Kenmare Resources' Moma mineral sands pro-ject in Mozambique, where Bateman Engineering, in a joint venture with Multiplex of Australia, has an engineering, procurement and construction contract, with a value of $253-million, says Nick Haywood, joint venture project manager, for Bateman Engineering.

The Moma site is located at the village of Tupuito, in the Nampula province, Northern Mozambique, about 1 300 km north of Maputo.

The area to be mined during the first 20 years extends seven kilo-metres inland and the plant...
