Macquarie India Infrastructure Opportunities Fund and the International
Finance Corp. plan to create a $1 billion private fund that will invest in
various infrastructure assets in India and other countries in South Asia.
The fund would be managed by a company to be owned by Macquarie and IFC.
"The infrastructure investment opportunities are considerable, and this
project fund will address a key constraint for developers of private or
public-private partnership infrastructure projects in India and other
countries in South Asia -- the availability of equity capital," said a
spokeswoman for the Macquarie group of companies in an email.
