By Richard Orange and Ben Marlow 13 August 2006 PRIVATE equity giant KKR is planning to raise a multi-billion dollar infrastructure fund to allow it to join the race to buy up the world's ports, utilities, roads and airports, The Business has learned. The news comes as bids are due for German utility group RWE's £8bn (E11.9bn, $15.2bn) Thames Water subsidiary on Tuesday without a single traditional private equity fund in the running. KKR and Apollo were initially interested but dropped out of the process as an early stage. Posted by pichu at August 13, 2006 5:02 PM |
