KENYA: Court blocks Sh24b project

The Sh24 billion project between Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority (Tarda) and Mumias Sugar Company has been thrown into disarray.

This follows a decision by the High Court in Mombasa to block the entry of any new players in the Tana Delta Sugar and Tana Delta Rice Irrigation projects other than Mat International Ltd.

Mat International and Tarda had on September 14, last year, entered into the first ever public and private joint venture for the sugar and rice projects.
