Infrastructure Canada: A Permanent Gas Tax Fund

Outaouais Region to receive more than $62 million by 2010

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 2, 2008) - The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced that municipalities within the Outaouais Region will receive federal funding to support environmentally sustainable municipal infrastructure that contributes to cleaner air, water and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

The Minister, who participated in the 71st Annual Conference of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, also noted that the permanent Gas Tax Fund means that all Outaouais Region municipalities will continue to enjoy stable, long-term funding for their public infrastructure projects.
