India: Opposition to PMC's plan to privatise Dalvi Hospital

Pune, May 8: THE Pune Municipal Corporation's plans to privatise Dalvi Hospital is facing strict opposition from several city organisations and the PMC's employees' union too. The Aarogya Seva privatisation opposition manch has appealed to the civic body to stall the privatisation or BOT projects of medical care.

The PMC had mooted a proposal to run Dalvi Hospital at Shivajinagar to Phadnis clinic. The civic administration had recently constructed a new wing of 200 beds at the existing 70-bed hospital at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore. However, it has proposed the new wing admeasuring 75,000 sq feet be run by Phadnis Clinic to provide services to patients at the PMC's existing rates.
