India: ADB may lend more to core PPP projects

NEW DELHI: In a bid to increase sources of finance for the country's crumbling infrastructure, the government has asked the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to increase non-recourse lending to public and private sector companies. The finance ministry has indicated to ADB that it should increase lending without insisting on sovereign guarantees. While the bank has significantly scaled up non-sovereign lending in the past couple of years, its proportion in the total loans disbursed stands at a meagre 21%.
