In Cameroon, Arlington's AES has plans to double its global reach

AES said Thursday that a subsidiary of the power company plans to significantly expand its electricity network in Cameroon, more than doubling the number of people it currently serves over the next 15 years and extending its network to previously unserved parts of the country.

AES Sonel, a subsidiary of Arlington-based AES, plans to add 50,000 new electricity connections each year over the next 15 years. To reach that goal, AES Sonel must improve its network and the company has secured a $340 financing package to help it do so.
