Designed especially for Russia, the trains are planned to enter service between Moscow and St. Petersburg in late 2009, Russian Railways announced. Simultaneously, Russian Railways is upgrading the tracks and guidance systems along the route, which will allow the trains to run up to 250 km/h, cutting travel time from the current eight hours to approximately 150 minutes.
