Goldman Sachs Seeks $7.5 Billion For GS Infrastructure Partners II

CHICAGO - (Dow Jones) - After raising $6.5 billion in 2006 for its debut infrastructure fund, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) is hoping to rake in $7.5 billion of capital commitments for GS Infrastructure Partners II LP, according to the offering's marketing materials.

A spokeswoman for Goldman Sachs declined to comment.

Fund II will focus on core infrastructure sectors, particularly transport infrastructure and utilities, in developed markets - predominantly North America and Europe - with established legal, political and regulatory frameworks.
