China Hopes to Stem Olympic Corruption

BEIJING - China installed a new supervisor of construction projects for the 2008 Beijing Olympics following the dismissal of a vice mayor in charge of games construction.

Xu Bo was appointed chief of the 2008 Olympics projects and construction headquarters office to help fight corruption and ensure quality, said office spokesman Wu Jingjun at a news conference on Thursday.

The office also stepped up its auditing of projects to make sure Olympics funds are not misused, Wu said.
