Cameroon: World Bank Releases CFA 169 billion for Cameroon's Energy Sector

The money will be used in financing the country's energy investment programme.

The International Finance Corporation, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, has announced the disbursement of 260 million Euros (about CFA 169 billion) for the financing of Cameroon's energy investment programme. IFC authorities made the announcement yesterday in Washington, qualifying the package as the largest financing ever provided to a privatized utility in Sub-Saharan Africa. "The IFC is joining with other development finance institutions in a major financing package to AES Sonel, Cameroon's privatized electric utility", the release said.
