ADB, World Bank fund for NE development projects

NEW DELHI: For catalysing development of the Northeast, the government has taken a special initiative to mobilise external aid, including from Asian Development Bank and World Bank, for upgradation of the region's roads, bridges, urban infrastructure and boosting trade.

"At present, there are three ADB-assisted and two World Bank-assisted projects in the Northeastern region," the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs said in its report submitted to Rajya Sabha.
