ADB funds urban rail project in Vietnam metro

The Asian Development Bank announced Tuesday it would provide a US$1.7 million technical assistance grant for a project to develop two urban mass rapid transit (MRT) rail lines in Ho Chi Minh City.

It said in a statement that the grant would come from its Japan Special Fund, funded by the Japanese government, while the Vietnamese government would contribute US$500,000 towards a technical study due to be completed in 2008.
