$3.32bn raised for Ras Laffan C project

doha - The financing early this month for Ras Laffan C power and water desalination project totalled $3.32bn, the largest non-recourse for a Middle East power and water project.

The financing was raised from four debt tranches, including $1.375bn from Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC); $1.392bn from commercial banks comprising 20 mandated lead arrangers, including EDC of Canada and KfW of Germany; $300m from Italian export credit agency (SACE); and $250m from the Islamic financing facility provided by the Islamic Development Bank and Qatar Islamic Bank.
