« Pensions funds to boost Africa | Main | India: Private power transmission plans hang fire » June 15, 20071bn a year "for Africa infrastructure" Europe to give 6bn euros to build infrastructureSource: Business Day Linda EnsorCAPE TOWN - The European Commission would use 6bn euros for regional infrastructure projects in Africa over the next six years, the commission's director-general of development, Stefano Manservisi, said yesterday. Manservisi, who controls all European Commission funding for Africa, including SA, participated in a panel discussion on infrastructure development on the continent during the World Economic Forum on Africa. The 6bn euro infrastructure fund forms part of the European Union's (EU's) total 20bn euro development funding for Africa over six years. This excludes SA, which has its own 980m euro funding arrangement with the EU.Posted by pichu at June 15, 2007 10:44 AM |
