Freshfields has published an interesting analysis of the global project finance deal flow pipeline, drawing on data from the Dealogic database, comparing the volume of projects in pre-approval, tender, and financing stages in the U.S. vs. Europe.
The conclusion is that the European pipeline is much more mature, with 75% of projects in the tendering stage. In contrast, the U.S. pipeline is constrained by regulatory and environmental hurdles, with 62% of projects stuck in the pre-approval stage.
