JBIC - the Japan Bank for International Cooperation announced recently that it would give assistance worth US $1.4 Billion towards ten new Indian infrastructure projects, all of which will break ground in the next few years.
JBIC, like most export credit agencies, has in the past made it a point to get Japanese firms, and in some cases other foreign firms, to play a part in such projects. If this trend continues, as expected, several global projects will soon be underway in various infrastructure segments in India. This will be something to watch, for academics and practitioners alike.
