Infrastructure funds seeking to originate new sources of deal flow will be glad to see this announcement from the IFC.
From the IFC web page:
IFC's Board of Directors has recently approved the establishment a Global Infrastructure Project Development Fund ("InfraVentures" or the "Fund"). InfraVentures is a fund of $100 million which will provide: (i) risk capital to fund the early stages of the development of infrastructure projects in IDA (International Development Association) countries through a variety of financial instruments; and (ii) expertise in critical areas of the earliest stages of project development, in order to successfully bring private and PPP infrastructure projects to the financing stage. InfraVentures will be jointly managed by IFC s Infrastructure Department and IFC s Regional Departments.
