The Global Project Strategies Consortium, involving scholars at HUT, VTT and HSE and several industry firms including Nokia Siemens, Wartsila, Foster Wheeler, Ramboll and Outotec, has been awarded an X euro research grant from TEKES to investigate global project networks, culture and diversity, and new approaches for risk management. This launches the second phase of a collaborative effort with CRGP that began in 2003.
The GPS II vision is to develop management practices for complex and global projects that are implemented in challenging institutional and business environments with several participating organizations.
The project will address several key research questions:
- How can project networks be effectively managed in different institutional and business environments?
- What are the novel and effective risk management practices in large and global project networks with several and diverse actors?
- How a global project should be organized for the effective management of cultural variety and diversity?
The objectives of the GPS II project are three-fold. First, to promote academic achievements:
- Advanced scientific research in the management of projects,
- High-quality publications and visibility in international project conferences,
- Dissertations and theses,
- Academic teaching as a supportive catalyst for publication deliveries,
Next, to foster international collaboration:
- Active research collaboration with top-research teams,
- Joint publications and sharing of empirical data,
- Researcher exchange (both ways),
Third, to enhance competitive advantage for Finnish companies, thru:
- Development of new applicable knowledge for project-oriented organizations to improve efficiency, effectiveness and innovation
- orting of piloting, application implementation and other developmental schemes in companies
