Industry Affiliate Program
CRGP is an interdisciplinary research center funded through an industry affiliate program at Stanford University. The primary benefit of the industry affiliate model is the pooling of funds from multiple affiliate members, government agencies, and private foundations. By combining and leveraging funds, CRGP is able to sustain a continuous program of fundamental, pre-commercial research that is much broader than any single member organization could possibly conduct. Thus, CRGP members tap into a wellspring of cutting-edge ideas, new recruits, and future partners at just a fraction of the total cost of provision.
Membership Eligibility
CRGP members include public and private sector organizations engaged in developing, financing, building or operating global projects. For example:
- host government agencies,
- multi-lateral banks,
- insurers,
- law firms,
- private lenders,
- financiers,
- consultants,
- developers,
- contractors, and
- non-governmental organizations.

Membership Benefits - Intangible
CRGP members also recognize many intangible benefits. Although they can be difficult to quantify prior to membership, intangible benefits tend to increase as members become more actively engaged in CRGP research activities and events. For example, CRGP members may gain the following kinds of opportunities:
- An ability to interact with colleagues from peer-organizations in a non-competitive environment;
- Introductions to potential business partners, both in the U.S. and abroad, through the CRGP industry affiliate program and through the Stanford alumni database;
- A chance to learn what industry leaders are thinking in terms of industry-wide challenges, trends and strategies;
- A chance to gain new theoretical lenses and frameworks that can help to overcome member-specific organizational challenges and issues;
- An opportunity to learn more about the upstream and downstream phases of the project development value chain;
- Access to pre-commercial strategic insights from CRGP research;
- A chance to sponsor larger research projects that focus directly on member-specific needs.
Membership Costs
CRGP offers a three-tier membership structure - $35,000, $55,000 or $110,000 per year - in order to meet the needs of smaller, more focused industry members as well as those of larger organizations. Affiliate members are strongly encouraged to make a three-year membership commitment; this is necessary so that CRGP can make financial commitments to Ph.D students and post-doctoral scholars who work closely with affiliate members to conduct relevant research.
