ProMAC2006 will explore the concept and role that Project and Program Management play in the achievement of change, the creation of adaptive organisations, advancement of society and the environment; and the realisation of our forefathers’ dreams. This can be demonstrated through projects and programs across business, industry, government and community globally.
It follows the first International Conference (ProMAC2002) with its motto of "Breakthrough with Project Management – In the Era of Global Revolution by IT", Singapore, 31 July – 2 August 2002 and the second International Conference (ProMAC2004) with its motto of "Opening up a New World of Opportunities Through Advancement in Project Management", Tokyo 11-14 October 2004. Both of these conferences challenged many of the established perceptions of project management and set the scene for the 2006 Conference to focus on Transformative Project and Program Management. The last Conference in Tokyo attracted over 800 delegates from 17 countries with a focus on Asia Pacific region.
2006 is going to be an extremely significant year for Project Management in Australia and we invite you to become a part of that. For the first time this event will be held in conjunction with the annual Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) Conference and the Project Management Institute (PMI) Sydney Conference. The conference will be hosted by four of the leading Project Management bodies in the Asia Pacific region; AIPM, Asia Pacific International College (APIC), Engineers Australia, and PMI-Sydney.
The Conference will provide an international forum for interested people, individual professionals of all disciplines, executives, government and business officials, community leaders and officeholders as well as scholars and academics from all over the world to come together to discuss the challenges of wealth creation in a smart economy and transformation of organisations, government agencies and communities.
The world is undergoing rapid change. Economies are diversifying rapidly and the centre of gravity for traditional manufacturing and production of consumer goods is shifting away from the old industrial economies to newly industrialised countries in Asia and Latin America. Projects and programs are no doubt engines of change and transformation in all economies, but the traditional understanding and practices of project and program management have been found inadequate when it comes to the pivotal role that project management must play in the transformation and wealth creation process. The traditional models are under threat as they do not respond well to the challenges of conceiving and delivering an increasingly more complex and diverse range of projects and programs that determine the business competitiveness and sustainability of organisations and long term economic security of nations.
