CRGP was set up as a Collaboratory -- i.e., a virtual global laboratory using both virtual and face-to-face communications to collaborate with research partners worldwide who share our research goals and approach. Other departments and centers at Stanford engaged in related research help to round out CRGP's capabilities and bring additional resources to our research and outreach mission. Collaborators from other universities to date have been based as far away as Finland and South Africa, and as close by as Monterey, California. CRGP has Collaboratory Partners in all of the 'BRIC' countries--Brazil, Russia, India and China--as well as South Africa.
