Caption: Industry affiliate programs like CRGP make it possible to assemble a cross-disciplinary team of researchers from within the University, and to orient them towards addressing an issue or problem that is of particular relevance to the industry, but that may be perceived as "too complicated, "too risky" or "too futuristic" for member organizations to pursue internally within their own R&D departments. The primary advantage of industry affiliate programs like CRGP to their members is that they allow funding sources to be leveraged from multiple public and private sources. Thus, no single member organization bears the costs; and all member organizations share in the benefits of the research, networking and educational activities that are enabled by the program.
